AMERICAS SOCIETY 680 Park Avenue Upper East Side Manhattan
We were hired by the Americas Society to re-design their visual arts museum/gallery, library and office in coordination with the installation of new windows.
Our firm re-created the original window openings which had been previously closed off from the street. To protect the art from sunlight, we specified a UV-protected glass and designed integral shade pockets at the window openings. To promote public interface with the gallery staff and research archive, we designed an inviting glass door between the gallery and office/library space. We gave special attention to materials and details, selecting vent grilles, outlets, baseboard, and floor finish so as to unify the space and not detract from the art on display. The successful realization of this project was the result of our close collaboration with the client team at every stage of the project.
